I had planned the perfect day.
To enjoy the last day of Spring break with my daughters,
we were going to visit to the Children’s Museum.
Then sip hot cocoa at our favorite chocolatier
in Sonoma County and watch the train go by.
We were going to laugh,
eat yummy stuff,
enjoy each other’s company.
Our daughters were playing well with each other,
so we didn’t want to interrupt that.
Then they were fighting with each other;
so we had to deal with that.
Then I was playing with them;
and I wanted to enjoy that.
Then our dog peed on the carpet in the patio;
so we had to clean that.
While outside, we heard our neighbor through the fence,
so we invited her to our yard for a talk,
our last blood orange from the season
and eleven lemons.
Then she invited us to her yard
and told us we could take a wisteria back to our yard
with pot, stand, and all.
We headed back and realized we were hungry.
So we ate tuna with crackers, quesadillas, oranges and a mango.
Oh, and we bit most of the flesh out of
the mango peel.
Then, it was time for a siesta.
We didn’t even get dressed.
We took no shower nor sipped hot cocoa.
But we laughed,
ate yummy stuff,
and enjoyed each other’s company.
It was the perfect morning.
